What I treat

In-home physiotherapy for balance and fall prevention

One-on-one assessment and treatment at your home in Downtown Toronto, Yorkville, Bayview Village and Rosedale.

Feeling unsteady changes how a person lives, smaller trips out, less confidence on the stairs, more time sitting. Physiotherapy for balance and fall prevention works on the reasons behind that unsteadiness: leg strength, balance reactions, walking pattern and confidence, practised where it matters most, in your own home.

Because I treat you at home, I see the real environment: the loose rug, the dark hallway, the bathroom without a grab bar, the stairs without a second rail. We practise on those stairs and in those rooms, and family members can join sessions with your consent to learn how to support you safely.

Common problems I see

  • Unsteadiness and fear of falling
  • Recovery after a fall
  • Weakness after illness or a hospital stay
  • Difficulty with stairs, curbs and uneven ground
  • Support for older adults who want to stay independent at home

How treatment works

Your first visit includes a falls history, balance and strength testing, and a walk through how you move around your home. Treatment is a progressive program, standing and walking balance practice, leg strengthening, and strategies for safer movement, reviewed and adjusted as you get steadier. I’ll also flag simple changes around the home that reduce risk, and coordinate with your other care providers when that would help.

Sessions and fees

A first visit is a 60-minute session ($180): a full assessment, hands-on treatment where appropriate, and your home program. Follow-ups are 45 minutes ($160). You’ll get an honest estimate of how many sessions you’re likely to need after your first assessment, no obligation to book a block.

Questions

Can you treat my parent at their home?

Yes. Many of my balance patients are older adults visited at home. With your parent’s consent, family can sit in, ask questions and learn how to support the program between visits.

How is balance tested?

With simple, safe standing and walking tests done at your pace, with support nearby. There’s nothing to pass or fail, the results just show where to focus first.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No. In Ontario you can book physiotherapy directly, without a physician’s referral.
